Survey confirms: You love the wide Galaxy Z Fold 8

Samsung’s latest foldable lineup is a departure from what the company’s been doing up to now. Rather than the usual two foldables — a Flip and a Fold — Samsung’s released three, including two book-style Z Fold phones in different aspect ratios. People have seemed excited about the new, wider form factor (the marginally less premium of the two) since before the phones were released, and now a survey Android Authority‘s been running has confirmed that vibe.

In a poll we’ve been running since late July, we asked readers which of the two Z Fold 8 phones they’d be more likely to buy. There were four options: the wide Z Fold 8; the narrow, higher-end Z Fold 8 Ultra; a response for people who hadn’t decided yet; and one for folks who just aren’t interested. After more than 1,000 responses, the wide Z Fold 8 ran away with it, nabbing nearly 60% of all votes.

With 59% of all votes in our survey, the standard Z Fold 8 was more than twice as popular as he Z Fold 8 Ultra, which is sitting just under 26% as of writing. That’s probably largely down to its novel, squarer shape when it’s closed, but it’s also likely down to cost. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at an extremely premium $1,900, but the Z Fold 8 Ultra is pricier still at a staggering $2,100.

The two remaining options — “Waiting for reviews” and “Neither” — brought up the rear, nearly tied at about 7.5% each.

These findings line up neatly with what we can see playing out in the real world. The passport-style Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been in high enough demand that certain configurations are back-ordered for weeks, with at least one specific combo projected to be delivered in October.
