Murena teams up with Volla to launch a user-friendly privacy-focused tablet designed in Europe.

Murena, one of the leading advocates for digital privacy and ethical technology, today reveals a new tablet in partnership with German smartphone and tablet company Volla Systeme.

The Murena Volla Tablet, which is available now, is a privacy-focused tablet, designed by two of the newer players in the tech market that offer more ethical software and hardware than Big Tech providers. The result is a powerful, intuitive, privacy-focused and sustainable Android device that is user-friendly, free from data hungry apps and gives users autonomy over their data.

The tablet has a Mediatek Helio G99 processor, 512gb storage (expandable up 1TB with Micro SD card), 12GB RAM and an extra large 12.6-inch QHD display. There is a generous 10,000mAH battery and the slim design and high quality anodised aluminium finish results in a premium design with longevity.

Rather than being locked into Big Tech’s ecosystem and apps which continuously collect information, Murena’s /e/OS operating system does not collect or sell user data via its operating system or native apps. /e/OS’s Advanced Privacy feature also gives users enhanced visibility and control over how their data is being accessed by third-party apps. The feature allows users to monitor and automatically block tracking attempts by third-party apps, so users can still enjoy using their favourite apps without compromising privacy.

The Murena Volla Tablet also comes with default tracker-free native /e/OS apps, like Mail and Calendar, installed. A full privacy-focused online ecosystem, Murena Workspace, consisting of end-to-end encrypted cloud storage and office software suite is also included, with 1GB of free storage.

Users can anonymously install third-party apps from the dedicated App Lounge, which features apps from Google Play, F-Droid and a database of Progressive Web Applications (PWAs). App Lounge also assigns a 0-10 privacy score to every app in the store, based on the number of permissions required and trackers, so users can make informed choices about what to install. Other key features of /e/OS include Murena Vault end-to-end encryption, enhanced parental controls, Find My Device via SMS, tablet mode and ethical search.
