JVC Introduces Victor TH-WD05 Soundbar With Dolby Atmos and Wood-Cone Tech

JVC Kenwood has introduced the Victor TH-WD05, a new integrated soundbar built around the company’s wood-cone speaker technology. The model will be released in Japan in late November and will be available in two finishes, Brown and Natural, for about ¥60,000. It is the first Victor-branded soundbar to use wood-cone drivers, a design aimed at producing natural resonance and clear mid-high frequency output.

The TH-WD05 is a 3.1-channel system with two 6 cm full-range wood-cone speakers and a 6 cm flat-type center driver. The subwoofer is an internal 49 × 157 mm oval unit. The wood-cone drivers use a birch diaphragm with a cherry center cap, housed inside a reinforced 9 mm MDF enclosure. JVC Kenwood has added a patent-pending reflector panel that directs sound forward and upward to widen the soundstage for music, TV, and movies.

Dialogue clarity is a key focus. The flat center diaphragm is designed to maintain vocal detail over distance, and a Clear Voice mode boosts speech frequencies. The soundbar supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, AAC, and up to 7.1-channel Linear PCM. Two-channel audio can be upmixed to 3D sound for a wider presentation.

Connectivity includes HDMI with eARC/ARC, optical input, RCA input, and USB playback for WAV and FLAC up to 96 kHz/24-bit, as well as MP3 and WMA. Bluetooth 5.3 supports SBC, AAC, and LDAC, and the soundbar can transmit audio to wireless headphones. Other features include Night Mode, bass on/off, adjustable bass and treble, auto power save, and Bluetooth standby.

The unit measures 697 × 77.5 × 110 mm and weighs 3.5 kg. It ships with a remote, batteries, power cable, HDMI cable, and optical cable. Pricing is set at 59,840 yen (around $390), with both color options available through the company’s online store.
