Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 in for review

The Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 is now at the office, and we are working on a full review. This is Huawei’s top-tier smartwatch for “Dynamic Explorers,” as the company refers to its target customers, and offers unrivaled durability in the smartwatch segment.

The watch offers a premium and robust build with a body made of zirconium-based liquid metal, marketed to be 8.7x more corrosion resistant and also stronger and harder than standard aluminum smartwatches. The bezel is made of nanocrystal ceramic and so is the back, which makes it skin-friendly and hypoallergenic. And as for the display, it’s of course sapphire crystal.

Moreover, Huawei’s watch can withstand 20 ATM underwater pressure, supports diving at up to 150 meters, making it the first watch to have a loudspeaker and to be rated for 20 ATM.

In addition to the build, the Watch Ultimate 2 also boasts a 1.5-inch LTPO 2.0 display capable of reaching 3,500 nits of brightness.

Huawei also fitted a mini sonar inside the device, so divers can send a distress signal and maintain contact with diving partners underwater.

The Watch Ultimate 2 is naturally equipped with a bunch of sensors. It has an ECG, pressure sensor, PPG sensor, SpO2 monitoring and can monitor arterial stiffness.

The available colors are Ocean Blue and Compass Black. We have the former at the office.

With all that hardware inside, it’s a big, heavy and sturdy watch and there’s no denying. However, we will explore real-world performance, tracking and battery life in the full review, so stay tuned!
